"Ismaire is the beautiful and beloved queen of the desert kingdom of Jehanna. She is known as the Queen of the White Dunes, and is the mother of the Myrmidon Joshua. Ismaire, known as a very wise and gentle ruler, has been ruling Jehanna on her own and her people admire her greatly."
As soon as I saw her avatar in the game, I knew I had to make her costume. Her gorgeous fire-red hair coupled with the cooling blue and purple of her robes were beautiful! Such a tragic character, though, having to rule a nation alone and falling victim to the whims of evil. I really admire her character's strength and poise.
As an aside, Nintendo recently came out with official character art for Ismaire, which I absolutely despise. So, just to be clear, I am making the outfit pictured in an in-game cutscene featuring Ismaire, and using the colors from her in-game sprite for reference.
I used robin's egg blue Silkessence fabric for the dress, with the bodice lined in Casa satin, and the cloak is made from eggplant Casa crepe. The gold brocade ribbon was purchased on Ebay and sewn on.
I added gold chain and red dagger crystals onto the edges of the cloak at the elbow along with toggles for a nice closure. I also added a gold filigree medallion with red dagger crystals to the bust of the dress. The belt is all gold chain, gold filigree medallions, gold hoops, and red dagger crystals, with a toggle closure in the back. The diadem is made from cardboard, craft foam, a rectangular wooden dowel, two glass stones, Tulip fabric paint for the raised designs, and aluminum wire, all painted gold and lightly weathered. There are 2 hair combs glued to the underside of the diadem so it can fit onto the wig.
The wig was purchased from Cosworx and lightly styled. I didn't want a fire engine red, so I went with henna red, a little bit more natural, but it still shows up firey in different lighting. The sandals were purchased and painted gold to match all of Ismaire's accessories.
I really love how this costume turned out. I felt very regal while wearing it ^.^
